Coffs Harbour

Spectacular Surfing with Jesus

Back to back titles for girls and QLD surfer Dale Lovelock claims Men’s Open title

Set at the picturesque Diggers Beach, Coffs Harbour, in idyllic 3-4ft swell, the Jesus Pro Am surf competition featured spectacular surfing, which kept the crowds entertained, and on the edge of their seats.

Dale Lovelock (Sunshine Coast, QLD) surfed with precision to take victory over former WCT surfer & gifted goofy foot charger, Shaun Cansdell (Coffs Harbour, NSW) in the Open Men’s final. Speaking of his win Dale said it “feels great; it was a really good event, and that final was so stacked with Shaun. I didn’t know how I was going to go, but sort of played priority and came out on top.”

Philippa Anderson (Merewether, NSW) continued her winning streak to claim back-to-back titles in stage 2 of the 3-part Jesus Pro Am series. Philippa was elated to win again saying, “The atmosphere was really good. It is a comp you can come & relax at; it’s not about winning, but showing people about God.”

In the cadet division, Ellie-Jean Coffey (Crescent Head, NSW) also followed suit by making it a double, winning at Manly in 2008 and again at Coffs Harbour for the Cadet Girls division.

In the Cadet Boys division, it was another Crescent Head local, Jackson O’Donnell, placing first, just edging out first time competitor to the Jesus Pro Am, Kelly Norris (Coolum Beach, QLD). Full press release (PDF)
