The Jesus Pro Am team, World Vision & Christian Surfers – Central Region making a difference…

On the 19th November, 2011 – surfers ‘Paddled Against Poverty’ from Manly Beach to Dee Why Beach in partnership with World Vision focusing on Sumba, Indonesia.

East Sumbah is an island just south of the main island chain of Indonesia. It’s famous in surfing circles for hosting “Occy’s left”. But, the island is facing a health crisis and many of the people on the east end of the island are extremely and in desperate need of assistance. Often, children and women suffer the most in these situations, and poor health leads to poor school attendance, deepening their sense of desperation. World Vision has been working there for a number of years now, mostly helping through sustainable and empowering community development projects, but the people are stalled by the food crisis they face.
